Both toenails and fingernails are formed from a protein called alpha-keratin. Your hairs are also made from this protein. Alpha-keratin remains rooted to the nail beds beneath the skin.

In most healthy adults, fingernails grow at the rate of 1mm per week. The growth is directly related to your overall physical health, mental health and your diet.

Try these tips for make your nails stronger.

  1. White Iodine:
    1. Dip your nails in lukewarm water for 2-3 minutes.
    2. Wipe them with dry cloth and then paint your nails with white
      iodine. It will make your nails strong and glossy.
  2. Castor Oil with Glycerine :
    1. Take 4-5 drops of each and apply it on your fingertips and
      cuticles.
  3. Alum Leaves :
    1. Make a decoction by boiling alum leaves in the filtered water.
    2. Strain the decoction and let it cool and store it in a glass
      container.
    3. Dip your fingers 3-4 times a day for 30 seconds.
    4. Do it for at least 3 weeks to renew your nails.
  4. DIY Cuticle Cream –
    1. Heat 2 tbsp of petroleum jelly in a pan.
    2. add half tsp glycerine to it.
    3. Mix well. Your cuticle cream is ready to use.
  5. Lanolin Cuticle Cream
    1. Mix lanolin and white clay (2tbsp each) togather.
    2. Mix until it forms a paste.
    3. You can use this paste on your cuticles.
    4. You can also use lanolin alone if you don’t want to use clay
      for any reason.
